Seems like Houston is the new hotspot for some great death metal music - I already covered the fantastic debut EP of Crater Lake, and here we are today, bringing some more underground music from the same city. The Xebellian Triangle is a symphonic death metal band with many technical and melodic death metal influences. The band is currently gearing up for their debut album, and the members were kind enough to send me a single of their album titled “CONFIRMED”. So without any further ado, let's jump into the discussion of the song.
“CONFIRMED” showcases a grand pompous opening with catchy riffs that instantly hooks you in. With the upfront heavy symphonic elements, the track perfectly establishes its ground and develops the momentum to get going. The catchy melodic riffs with few technical phrases are quite reminiscent of the newer stuff of Burned In Effigy or Devils of Louden. Though being a bit mid-paced, the song does account for some strong grooves, giving you the scope for headbanging! With the incorporation of many technical elements, the band does use the simple verse-chorus formula of songwriting. While the chorus is dominated by the lows of the female vocals of Haley Roughton, the chorus really mesmerizes you with the clean vocal passages. Not to miss on the near perfect guitar solo halfway through the song, which delivers the right amount of melodicness and emotion.
The band did shoot an official live video of the song. Take a listen here:
