Social Media groups have really great bands featuring themselves, you just need to look for. I came across Prominentia (based in Lebanon, Beirut) last year when they were promoting their single. Upon checking them out, I realized how much these guys are genuine towards their genre and sound. The boys just dropped another brand new single "Descendence" I'm here to talk about it.
"Descendence" begins with melodic chord progression on guitars with clean vocals on it, doing the vocal melodies and harmonies. Followed by that are some really fancy grooves on drums, giving that tightness and energetic vibe to the song. The chorus features the clean vocals with guitar leads on top, both carrying the melodious aesthetic. While being mid-paced till now, halfway through the song features some interesting, groovy and catchy riffs. Also throw in double bass, and you have a perfect combination of power and spirit. The chord progression on guitar bleeds into the song, bringing back the emotional vibe and ending the song.
With "Descendence", Prominentia shows a melodic approach to death metal songwriting. The riffs, mostly being arpeggiated or single note, provide the necessary emotion and sensitivity to the song. The sound of the drums are some authentic and pleasing sound I've heard in a long time. The vocals mostly being clean with a slight amount of growls to it, adds colour to the soundscape. Again, the band manages to keep their authenticity like their previous two singles (Not editing each note out to put exactly on time and sound mechanical af). While the mix could be better and sounds a bit dry to my ears, I have no issues going with the sound the band provides. With this song, Prominentia shows an honest effort towards genuine songwriting. The boys are releasing their full-length album soon and all I can wish for is success and fame for them!
